How to Re-Authenticate Slack in BoldDesk

Updated:

This article explains how to re-authenticate the Slack integration in BoldDesk. Re-authentication may be required when the connection between BoldDesk and Slack expires, is interrupted, or needs to be refreshed to continue sending Slack notifications and supporting configured Slack actions.

When re-authenticating Slack, BoldDesk redirects you through the Slack authorization flow. You may need to sign in to the required Slack workspace, approve Slack permissions for the BoldDesk app, enter your BoldDesk domain, and allow the BoldDesk Slack Integration App to access the required BoldDesk data.

Prerequisites

Before re-authenticating Slack, make sure:

  • The Slack app is already installed in Admin → Apps → My Apps.
  • You have access to the required Slack workspace.
  • You have permission to authorize or manage apps in the Slack workspace.
  • You know the correct BoldDesk domain to enter during the authorization process.

  12. After authorization is completed, you will be redirected back to the Slack app details page in BoldDesk.

The Slack app should show as Active, and a success message such as Slack successfully installed may appear.

After re-authentication is completed, BoldDesk refreshes the connection with Slack. The Slack integration can continue performing supported actions based on the configured integration settings.

Troubleshooting

The Re-Authentication button is not available

Confirm that the Slack app is already installed in Admin → Apps → My Apps. If the Slack app is not installed, install and configure the Slack app before attempting re-authentication.

The wrong Slack account or workspace opens during re-authentication

This can happen when your browser is already signed in to another Slack account or workspace. Sign out from the incorrect Slack account, or use an incognito/private browsing window. Then repeat the re-authentication process and sign in with the correct Slack workspace account.

The BoldDesk domain is not accepted

Confirm that you entered the correct BoldDesk domain. Enter only the required BoldDesk account domain in the field shown during the integration flow. If the issue continues, verify that you are using the correct BoldDesk portal for the Slack integration.

Permissions

  • To re-authenticate the Slack integration in BoldDesk, the agent’s role must include the Manage settings permission under the Admin permission category.

  • The user may also need the required permission in Slack to authorize the BoldDesk app for the selected workspace. If the Slack workspace restricts app installation or authorization, contact the Slack workspace administrator.
