How to Generate an AI 2.0 Agent Instruction from a Classic AI Agent
Classic AI Agents use multiple instruction sections to define behavior, while AI 2.0 Agents use a single Common Instruction. To simplify migration, the Generate 2.0 Instruction feature automatically consolidates all instructions from a Classic AI Agent into a single AI 2.0-compatible instruction. This provides a starting point for migration, reduces manual effort, and allows you to review, refine, and validate agent behavior before publishing.
This article explains how to generate the instruction, add it to an AI 2.0 Agent, and validate the migrated agent before publishing.
Use Cases
- Migrate Instructions – Combine multiple Classic AI Agent instructions into one Common Instruction for an AI 2.0 Agent.
- Clean Up Instructions – Remove duplicate or overlapping guidance to make instructions clearer and easier to manage.
- Test and Refine Behavior – Compare responses, adjust instructions, and ensure the AI 2.0 Agent behaves as expected before publishing.
Prerequisites
- You must have access to the Classic AI Agent you want to create in AI 2.0.
- Your role must have permission to manage AI Agents:
- Manage AI Agents permission for Classic AI Agents.
- AI Agent Builder access permissions for AI 2.0 Agents. For more information, explore How to Configure AI Agent Builder Access Permission
How to Generate AI 2.0 Instructions from Classic AI
You can generate AI 2.0 instructions from:
- The Classic AI Agent Listing Page
- The Classic AI Agent Configuration Page
From Classic AI Agent Listing Page
-
Navigate to AI > Classic AI.
-
Locate the AI Agent you want to migrate.
-
Click the More Options (⋮) menu.
-
Select Generate AI 2.0 Instructions.
-
A generation window will open automatically.
-
Review the generated instruction.
-
Click Copy and Close.
-
Once the instruction has been generated and copied to your clipboard, paste it into the Instructions field when creating an AI 2.0 Agent.
From Classic AI Agent Configuration Page
-
Open the Classic AI Agent.
-
Navigate to the Instructions section.
-
Click Generate AI 2.0 Instructions.
-
A generation window appears containing the consolidated instruction.
-
Review the generated content.
-
Click Copy and Close.
-
Once the instruction has been generated and copied to your clipboard, paste it into the Instructions field when creating an AI 2.0 Agent.
- The generated instruction is a starting point. Review and test it before using the agent in production.
- Only instruction content is consolidated. Other configurations, such as settings, data sources, tools, integrations, and conversation behavior, may need to be reviewed or recreated separately in an AI 2.0 Agent builder portal.
Creating Your Classic AI in AI 2.0
During migration, AI agents from classic AI are not migrated to AI 2.0. You have to create them from scratch. The instruction generated above will be helpful as you can modify it slightly or use it fully after reviewing. To learn how to create AI 2.0, explore How to Create and Manage AI 2.0 Agent in BoldDesk.
Once you have created your AI Agent, paste the copied instruction from your clipboard. You can make it better from the builder portal or use it as it is.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What does Generate AI 2.0 Instruction do in a Classic AI Agent?
Generate AI 2.0 Instruction collects all instruction sections from a Classic AI Agent and consolidates them into a single instruction compatible with an AI 2.0 Agent. -
Where do I paste the generated instruction in an AI 2.0 Agent?
Paste the generated instruction into the AI 2.0 Agent’s Instruction / Common Instruction field in the AI Agent Builder. -
Do I still need to review the generated instruction?
Yes. Review is required to confirm the instruction matches intended behavior and does not contain duplicates or conflicting rules. -
What should I do after pasting the generated instruction?
Refine the Common Instruction to remove redundant guidance, improve clarity, and test using the AI 2.0 preview panel. Retest after each update. -
How do I validate the migrated agent before publishing?
Use the Preview panel to test realistic customer scenarios and confirm responses meet expectations. See:

Why does the AI 2.0 Agent behave differently after migration?
Consolidation can alter the perceived priority of rules. Make key rules explicit, remove ambiguities, and retest until behavior is consistent. -
What should I do if the generated instruction contains duplicate or repeated guidance?
Remove duplicates, keep one authoritative rule per behavior, and retest the AI 2.0 Agent after updates. -
Why can’t I access AI Agent configuration pages or the AI Agent Builder?
