How to Permanently Delete a Contact
To meet GDPR compliance requirements, you may have to permanently delete a contact and its details. Start by soft deleting the contact, then proceed with permanently deleting it. This will also delete all related tickets and contact details permanently.
Note: Only the contacts that are soft deleted can be permanently deleted.
Check out this video for more details.
Soft delete vs Permanent delete
Soft delete: The user will be restricted from accessing the portal, but their information will remain available. It can be restored at any time.
Permanent delete: All user information will be permanently deleted from the database and cannot be recovered.
Permanently deleting contacts
To permanently delete a contact, you need to follow a two-step procedure.
- Delete (soft delete) the contact
- Delete the contact forever
Be careful while deleting contacts permanently since they cannot be recovered.
Deleting contacts permanently will also delete all requested tickets associated with them. However, comments made by a user on another user ticket will remain but will be displayed as Deleted User has commentedwithout any identification.
The contact will be unknown, and the replies and survey ratings updated by the deleted contact will be considered as a reply from the Deleted User.
All the following contact information can be erased from the database:
- Name
- Email ID
- Phone number
- Job Title
- Address
- All custom field values
Note: The user can sign up as a new contact with the same email that was deleted permanently.
