How to Activate or Deactivate a Telegram Account in BoldDesk

BoldDesk allows administrators to activate or deactivate Telegram accounts directly from the Admin settings. This helps control when a Telegram channel is available for customer conversations and ensures proper management of chat channels.

Telegram account status changes affect only the Live Chat channel and do not impact tickets or other channels.

How to activate a Telegram account in BoldDesk

Activating a Telegram account makes it available for incoming customer chats.

Follow the given steps to activate the Telegram account in BoldDesk:

  1. Click Admin > Chat > Telegram > Manage.

  2. Navigate to the Inactive account list column.

  3. From the account list, click the kebab icon (⋮) and select Activate.

  4. Click the Yes, Activate button in the confirmation dialog to activate the Telegram account.

How to deactivate a Telegram account in BoldDesk

Deactivating a Telegram account stops new incoming chats through that account.

Follow the given steps to deactivate the Telegram account in BoldDesk:

  1. Click Admin > Chat > Telegram > Manage.

  2. Navigate to the Active account list column.

  3. From the account list, click the kebab icon (⋮) and select Deactivate.

  4. Click the Yes, Deactivate button in the confirmation dialog to deactivate the Telegram account.

This action only deactivates the Telegram account within BoldDesk. If you want to permanently deactivate your Telegram account itself, you must do so on Telegram’s official website.

  1. Does deactivating a Telegram account delete chat history?
    No. Deactivating a Telegram account does not remove existing chat history.

  2. Can agents activate or deactivate Telegram accounts?
    No. Only users with manage app can manage Telegram account status.

    No. Deactivation prevents new incoming chats but does not automatically close existing conversations.

    No. BoldDesk does not currently support scheduled activation or deactivation for Telegram accounts.

    No. Once you have deactivated Telegram, it will resume normal chat operation.
