How to Create and Manage Dashboard Categories in BoldDesk
Dashboard categories help to put similar dashboards together. This helps you to find dashboards faster and find similar dashboards. BoldDesk provides three Dashboard categories as follows;

| System | System dashboards shown under this category. This dashboard category cannot be deleted. |
| Custom | This lists all dashboards with the particular custom dashboard category name, for instance, Tickets, Activities. You can delete a custom dashboard category. |
- Only custom dashboard categories may be created, and only these categories can be edited or deleted.
- Dashboards created without a category do not belong to any specific category and are displayed as “no category.” This category cannot be deleted.
Adding a New Category
To create a dashboard category, follow the given steps:
- Go to the Reports Module
- Under Categories Section, click the Create button
- Enter the category name and click the Create button to create the category.
- After creating the category, the category is listed under the Categories section.
Editing a Category
To edit a dashboard category, follow the given steps:
- Choose the category which you want to modify under the categories section.
- Click the highlighted more option (:) and choose the Edit option.
- Enter the category name which you want to modify and click the Update button to update the changes.
- After updating the category, the category is listed under the Categories section.
Deleting a Category
To delete a dashboard category, follow the given steps:
- Choose the category which you want to delete.
- Click the highlighted more option (:) and choose the Delete option.
- After clicking the Delete option, a confirmation dialog will appear. Click the Delete button to delete the category.
When deleting the category, dashboards are not deleted along with the category. Dashboards are removed from the deleted category.
Permission to Create, Edit or Delete Category
To create a new dashboard category, edit, or delete an existing dashboard category, agents require reports permission to Manage custom dashboard.

1. Can I delete system or “No Category” categories?
No. Only custom categories can be deleted.

Dashboards remain intact—they are simply removed from that category.
