How to Assign a Default App in Facebook Page Settings

Overview

To effectively manage conversations on Facebook and Instagram, BoldDesk Channel should be set as the default routing application and granted the necessary permissions.

If BoldDesk Channel is not configured as the default routing application, it will be unable to:

• Gain control over conversations initiated by other applications.
• Send messages unless explicit thread control is granted.

How to set the default routing app for Facebook Messenger

1. Log in to your Facebook account and go to Facebook Page Settings.
2. Navigate to Page setup then click Messenger conversation routing.
   
   
3. Select Set up, in the dropdown, choose BoldDesk Channel as the default routing application, and then click Continue.
   
   
   
   
   
4. Next, navigate to Page setup > Advanced messaging.
5. Click edit icon and activate the toggles for Access standby channel and Take control of conversations within the Messenger permissions, then click Save.
   
   

How to set the default routing app for Instagram

1. Log in to your Facebook account and navigate to the Facebook Page Settings associated with the linked Instagram account.
2. Navigate to Page setup then click Instagram conversation routing.
   
   
3. Click the edit icon and select Edit, in the dropdown, choose BoldDesk Channel as the default routing application, enable Allow this app to take control of conversations, then click Save.
   
   
4. Next, navigate to Page setup > Advanced messaging.
5. Click edit icon and activate the toggles for Access standby channel within the Instagram permissions, then click Save.
