How to Configure WhatsApp Interactive Workflows in BoldDesk
WhatsApp Interactive Workflows in BoldDesk help administrators guide customers through structured WhatsApp conversations using selectable options. Instead of relying only on free-text replies, customers can choose from predefined buttons or list options, making it easier to route conversations, collect required details, and continue the workflow based on the customer’s selection.
This article explains how to configure WhatsApp interactive message workflows using WhatsApp Interactive Message blocks for button-based options and WhatsApp Interactive List blocks for menu-style selections.
To configure WhatsApp interactive message workflows, follow these steps:
-
Go to Admin > Chat.
-
Under Automation, expand Chat Automation, then select Workflows.
-
On the Workflow Triggers page, select the trigger that should start the workflow. For example, select Conversation Created if the workflow should run when a customer starts a new conversation.

Continue building the workflow by adding the required blocks after the WhatsApp interactive block.
For example, based on the customer’s selection, you can add:
- Additional branching conditions.
- User input blocks.
- Action blocks.
- Assignment or routing blocks.
- Another WhatsApp interactive message or list block.
- An Exit block to end the workflow.
-
Once the workflow is complete, add an Exit block to end the workflow path.
-
Save and activate the workflow.
Once the workflow is active, if an incoming WhatsApp conversation matches the configured trigger and conditions, BoldDesk sends the configured WhatsApp interactive message or list message. Based on the customer’s selection, the workflow continues through the configured branches and ends when it reaches an Exit block.
