How to Purchase and Manage AI Agent Credits in BoldDesk

AI Agent Credits are required for AI Agents to generate responses in BoldDesk. To keep AI Agent responses available without interruption, you can purchase credit packs, add more credits when needed, and configure auto recharge from the Billing & Subscription section.

This article explains how to purchase and manage AI Agent Credits in an active BoldDesk subscription. It covers how to access the AI Agent Credits page, purchase additional credit packs, configure auto recharge, review payment details, and troubleshoot common credit- or payment-related issues.

Prerequisites

Before purchasing or managing AI Agent Credits, verify the following:

  • The BoldDesk account has an active subscription.
  • The agent’s role must have the Admin module enabled, and the Manage billing and subscription permission must be enabled.
  • A valid payment method is available for the subscription.

Purchase or Manage AI Agent Credits

Step 1. Open Billing & Subscription

Go to Admin Center > Billing & Subscription.

Step 2. Select the AI Agent Credits Option

In the AI Agent Credits section, select the available option based on your current subscription status.

  • If AI Agent Credits have not been purchased yet, click Purchase AI Agent Credits.

  • If AI Agent Credits are already activated, click Manage AI Agent Credits.

If AI Agent Credits are already activated, BoldDesk displays Manage AI Agent Credits instead of Purchase AI Agent Credits. Use this option to add more credits, configure auto recharge, or review credit purchase history.

Step 3. Open the AI Agent Credits Page

You can also open the AI Agent Credits page directly from the left menu in the billing area.

On the AI Agent Credits page, you can:

  • View the number of credit packs purchased.
  • Check the last purchased date.
  • View the per credit pack amount.
  • View the total credit pack amount.
  • Add more AI Agent Credits.
  • Enable or manage auto recharge.
  • Review purchase history and invoices.

To purchase additional credits, click Add AI Agent Credits.

Step 4. Configure the AI Agent Credit Packs

After clicking Add AI Agent Credits, the Purchase AI Agent Credits panel opens.

In the Configure AI Agents Credits step, you can:

  • View the cost per credit pack.
  • Select the number of credit packs to purchase.
  • Enable or disable Auto Recharge.
  • Select the number of credit packs to be purchased automatically when credits are depleted.

Each credit pack includes a fixed number of AI Agent Credits. For example, if one credit pack contains 1000 credits, selecting one credit pack adds 1000 credits to the subscription.

The auto-recharge amount is based on the prevailing rate on the renewal date. If auto recharge is enabled, BoldDesk automatically purchases the selected number of credit packs when the available AI Agent Credits are depleted.

Click Continue to proceed to the payment step.

Step 5. Review the Payment Method and Complete the Purchase

In the Payment Method step, review the payment details before completing the purchase.

The payment summary shows:

  • The default payment card used for the purchase.
  • The number of AI Agent Credit packs selected.
  • The subtotal excluding tax.
  • The applicable tax.
  • The total amount due.

Payments are handled through Stripe, and the default payment method is charged. BoldDesk does not store card details.

If the payment method must be changed, click Manage Payment Method.

After reviewing the payment details, click Update to complete the purchase.

If a default payment method is already available, BoldDesk uses it to process the AI Agent Credit purchase. To update the card or billing payment method, use the Manage Payment Method option.

After Purchasing AI Agent Credits

After the purchase is completed, the purchased credits are added to the subscription and can be used by the AI Agent.

You can return to the AI Agent Credits page to:

  • Confirm the updated credit pack count.
  • Review the purchase history.
  • View the related invoice.
  • Update auto recharge settings.

AI Agent responses consume AI Agent Credits. If credits are depleted and auto recharge is not enabled, AI Agent responses may stop until additional credits are purchased.

Troubleshooting

The Purchase AI Agent Credits option is not shown

If AI Agent Credits are already activated for the subscription, BoldDesk shows Manage AI Agent Credits instead of Purchase AI Agent Credits.

The Manage AI Agent Credits option is not shown

Confirm that AI Agent Credits are activated for the subscription. If credits have not been purchased yet, use Purchase AI Agent Credits from the Billing & Subscription page.

The Add AI Agent Credits option is not shown

Confirm that you have the required billing access. If the option is still unavailable, contact your BoldDesk administrator or billing owner.

Payment fails or is declined

Verify the billing details and payment method. Complete any required payment authentication, such as 3D Secure verification. If the issue continues, try a different payment method.

Purchased credits are not reflected

Refresh the page, sign out and sign in again, and check the purchase history or invoice status from the AI Agent Credits page.

AI Agent stops responding

Check whether AI Agent Credits are depleted. Purchase additional credits or enable auto recharge to continue using AI Agent responses.

  1. Why do I see Manage AI Agent Credits instead of Purchase AI Agent Credits?
    Manage AI Agent Credits is shown when AI Agent Credits are already activated for the subscription. Use this option to add more credits, manage auto recharge, and view purchase history.

    Yes. AI Agent responses may stop when credits are depleted. To avoid interruption, purchase additional credits or enable auto recharge.
