How to Send Verification or Invitation Emails to Contacts

Updated:

BoldDesk automatically sends verification or activation emails when a new contact is created. If a customer reports not receiving the verification email—or the email needs to be resent—agents can manually trigger the verification email from the Contacts module.

This guide explains how to resend verification emails, required permissions, and how to ensure verification notifications are enabled.

How to Resend Verification Emails

BoldDesk verifies new contacts by sending an email confirmation. Verification is required for a contact to activate their customer portal access, depending on your portal configuration. Using the Unverified Contacts list or the contact’s profile page, agents can resend the email when necessary.

Method 1: From the Unverified Contacts List

  1. Navigate to Contacts → Contacts → Unverified Contacts.

  2. Locate the contact requiring verification.

  3. Click More Actions.

  4. Select Send Verification.

BoldDesk immediately sends a fresh verification email to the contact.

Method 2: From the Contact Profile page

  1. Open Contacts → Select the desired Contact.

  2. Select the contact record.

  3. Click Send Verification Email (only visible for unverified contacts).

This option is available directly within the contact’s details page.

Visibility Rules for the “Send Verification Email” Option

The Send Verification Email button will not appear if:

  • The contact is already verified
  • The contact is deleted
  • The contact is blocked

These conditions prevent sending verification emails unnecessarily or to deactivated records.

  • Contacts cannot be invited through the customer portal. Instead, they can sign up directly, be added via the Contacts module, or be created automatically when they email the support address. A verification email is sent to activate their account.

Permission Requirements

Agents must have the Create or edit contact permission enabled in Admin → Roles & Permissions to:

  • Access the contact record
  • Resend verification emails
  • Modify contact details

Without this permission, you will not have access to perform the verification.
