How to Change a Knowledge Base article URL

When a Knowledge Base article is created, the system converts the article title into a slug and appends that slug to the article URL.

  • Resulting KB article URL: {yourDomain}/kb/article/{articleId}/how-to-change-an-articles-url

The slug is the editable part of the URL shown after {articleId}.

How to Edit the article slug (change the article URL)

To change a knowledge base article URL, do the following:

  1. Open the KB module.

  2. Select the Knowledge Base article whose URL you want to change.

  3. Click Edit.

  4. Under the article title, click the Edit slug icon.

  5. In the slug dialog box, enter the new slug value.

  6. Click Update.

Result

After updating the slug, the KB article URL changes to include the new slug. When users access the article, the article redirects to the new URL.

Editing an article’s slug changes only the URL slug portion, not the articleId portion. The slug is derived from the article title by default, but the slug can be manually overridden by editing the article’s slug. After the slug is edited, the article redirects to the updated URL.
