How to Reorder Articles and Sections in the Agent Portal
This article will show you how to reorder articles and sections in the agent portal. You can use this option to promote new articles, update old articles, or reorganize articles.
You can reorder articles using any of the following options:
- Move to Top
- Move to Bottom
- Move to Position
Alternatively, you can reorder a section using the Drag and Drop option.
You can only reorder articles within the same section.
Reordering Articles Within a Section

Navigate to KB Module.

Go to Manage Articles and select the Category or Section where you want to rearrange the articles.

A list of ‘Sections/Articles’ is displayed on the right side of the Manage Articles, above which there is a Reorder option for reordering the articles.
To reorder articles, the Article Sorting option for the particular category has to be set to Position. Explore further instructions about What are the article sorting options to change the category sorting option to Position if you can’t find the reorder option.
- Click the Reorder option to order an article with any of the steps below:

Move an article to the desired position using the Drag and Drop option.

Move an article to the top, bottom, or a specific position using the below shown options:
When you click the Move to Position option, a dialog box appears, where you can specify the position. Click Move to apply the changes.

Reordering Sections Within a Category
Sections determine how articles are grouped within a category and can also be reordered manually.
Step‑by‑Step Instructions

Navigate to KB Module.

Go to Manage Article and select the ‘Category’ where you want to rearrange the sections.
A list of ‘Sections’ within the selected category will be displayed.

Drag and drop the section to move it to the desired position.

You can move a section within the category or nest it under a parent section in the same category.

Can I reorder articles across different sections?
No. Articles can be reordered only within the same section. -
Why don’t I see the Reorder option?
The category’s Article Sorting setting must be configured to Position in order to enable the Reorder option. -
Can I reorder published and draft articles together?
Yes. Reordering applies regardless of article status, but visibility depends on permissions and publication status. -
Can I move a section to another category?
No. Sections can only be reordered or nested within the same category. -
Does reordering change article visibility or permissions?
No. Reordering influences the display sequence and may also have an effect if the article is transferred to a category with restricted visibility. -
Is bulk reordering supported?
No. BoldDesk does not support bulk or automatic reordering of articles or sections.
