How to Configure IMAP Settings for Gmail to Sync with BoldDesk
Published:
IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) allows you to access your emails on multiple devices while keeping them in sync. This is particularly useful when you want to manage your Gmail emails through BoldDesk. Here’s how you can enable IMAP in your Gmail account and configure it to work with BoldDesk.
Enable IMAP in your Gmail Account
To enable IMAP in your Gmail settings, follow these steps:
- Sign in to your Gmail account in a Web browser.
- Click the gear icon at the top-right of the window and select the See all settings option in the Quick settings.
- Select the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab at the top of the settings page.
- In the IMAP Access section, click the radio button next to Enable IMAP. You can also adjust additional settings here, if necessary. Once you’re done, click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the menu.
After enabling IMAP in Gmail, you need to add your Gmail ID and an App password or your email inbox password in BoldDesk’s IMAP option. Refer to the image below for guidance.
Note:
- If you have enabled multifactor authentication on your Gmail account, you will need to generate an app password to use instead of your regular password. To do this, go to your Google Account and navigate to the Security tab, and find the option to generate an App Password.
- Once the emails are synced with BoldDesk, they will be marked as read.
- The IMAP synchronizer, a CRON job, runs every few minutes, so you might notice a slight delay in syncing.
- If you opt to “Retrieve emails from the previous day,” syncing these emails may take additional time. New emails will be synced after all older emails have been processed.
