Getting Started with BoldDesk Notifications

In the agent portal, notifications keep users informed about important events as they occur, ensuring they are promptly aware of updates, changes, or activities and can respond or take necessary actions on time.

To enable this feature, follow the given steps:

  1. Navigate to View Profile & Settings > Notifications.
  2. Enable the Notifications.


Notification configurations

 Users can configure notifications by:

  1. Enabling/disabling notifications for any specific event.
  2. Configuring type for any specific event.


Notification types

There are two types of notifications they include:

  1. Focused
  2. Others
TypeDescription
Focused
Notifications in the 'Focused' category will automatically appear in the notification dialog as high priority by default.
Others
Notifications in the 'Others' category will not be shown as high priority.


View notifications


Users can manage notifications in the notification dialog, where the notification count appears only for unread notifications in the 'Focused' category, while a notification dot indicates unread notifications in the 'Others' category.

Clicking the notification icon opens the notification dialog, which displays focused notifications by default.


Notification categories

The following are different notification categories and their descriptions:

Type
Description
All
Displays all notifications, including both read and unread, across all categories.
Focused
Displays all notifications, including both read and unread, from the 'Focused' category.
Others
Display all notifications, both read and unread, from the 'Others' category.
Mentioned
Displays notifications where you are specially mentioned.
Watching
Displays all notifications where you are added as a watcher.


Mark as read/unread

Notifications can be marked as read/unread by selecting the respective option or by clicking on the notification itself.


Delete notification

Notifications can be deleted by selecting the delete notification option.


Unread option

Clicking this option displays a list of all unread notifications.


Mark all as read

This option marks all notifications in the selected category as read.


Notifications clear options

  • Clear All - Deletes all the notifications from the selected category. 
  • Clear All (Read) - Deletes only the read notifications from the selected category.


Mark all as read (All Categories)

Marks all notifications from all categories as read.


Notifications list refresh

Updates the notifications list according to the existing filters.


Browser notifications

Browser notifications are messages delivered by websites or web applications through web browsers, even when the user is not actively browsing the site. These notifications appear as pop-ups or alerts on the user's desktop.

To enable this feature, follow the given steps:

  1. Navigate to the personal account.
  2. Click View Profile & Settings > Notifications.
  3. Toggle the Enable Browser Notifications option.

Note: You need to turn on the notifications toggle in the system and browser settings.


Notification sound

The notification sound can be enabled and disabled in the notification settings in the agent portal.

To enable this feature, follow the below steps:

  1. Navigate to the personal account.
  2. Click View Profile & Settings > Notifications.
  3. Toggle the Enable the Sound for Browser Notification option.


Notification display

When the specified settings are activated, browser notifications will appear. Clicking on a notification will redirect the user to the corresponding update in a new browser tab.
