Enable and Troubleshoot BoldDesk Browser Notifications
Browser notifications allow users to get alerts through your web browser. If a user isn’t receiving browser notifications for BoldDesk updates, it could be because notifications are disabled either in the browser’s site settings or within BoldDesk’s notification settings. Both settings must be enabled for browser notifications to work properly.

Additional Troubleshooting Steps
If notifications still do not appear after enabling them:
- Log Out and Log Back In
- Sign out of BoldDesk and log back in using Chrome or your preferred browser to refresh permissions.
- Add BoldDesk Domain to System Notifications
-
On Windows or macOS, ensure your BoldDesk portal domain is listed under allowed apps/sites in system notification settings.
- Check Do Not Disturb (DND) Settings
- If DND is enabled on your system, browser notifications may be suppressed. Disable DND to allow alerts.
Sound Notification Behavior
- BoldDesk plays a sound 5 seconds after a message is received.
- If the message is read within that 5-second window, no sound will play.
- This design prevents unnecessary alerts when messages are quickly acknowledged.
